Oklahoma City Courthouse and Police Cruiser

Oklahoma law provides serious penalties for the knowing, unlawful possession of controlled substances. This is sometimes called "simple  possession" because there is no proof of any intent to sell or distribute the illegal drug. For marijuana, such a first offense simple possession case will subject the offender to up to one year imprisonment. A second such "simple possession" offense involving marijuana will bring an enhanced sentence of 2 to 10 years. Cocaine and Crack are subject to the 2 to 10 years even on a first offense of "simple possession." Of course, if there is such an intent to sell or distribute the drug which is attached to the possession, the penalties are significantly enhanced.

Drug offenses in Oklahoma carry serious penalties. If you are charged with such an offense, you should retain an attorney experienced in the defense of drug cases as soon as possible in order to begin an immediate and aggressive defense against such a charge.
